On January 6th, 2015 Boeing and Air New Zealand announced that they have fully completed an order for two Boeing 787-9 commercial jets. Boeing is valuing the order at $514 million USD ($514,000,000) at "list prices" for the aircraft. Boeing is marking the order as being completed in 2014, increasing Boeing's 2014 aircraft order totals. Air New Zealand was the launch customer for the Boeing 787-9 and is currently operating 3 Boeing 787-9s in their fleet. Air New Zealand placed its first order for the 787-9 on October 26, 2005, which is certainly a long time ago. The airline has ordered a total of 12 787-9 jets and currently has a total of 9 787-9 jets on order with Boeing. Boeing has received a total of 65 orders in 2014 for the Boeing 787. All of the orders in 2014 are for the -9 version of the aircraft.
